For the dough: flour, egg, salt, warm water, and oil. For the filling: mashed potatoes, farmer’s cheese (or cottage cheese), sautéed onions, salt, and pepper.

Mix flour, egg, salt, oil, and warm water. Knead until smooth, elastic, and soft, not sticky. Let it rest covered for 30 minutes to make rolling easier later.

Boil and mash the potatoes, then mix in crumbled cheese and sautéed onions. Season with salt and pepper. This creamy, tangy mixture is what gives pierogi their heartwarming flavor.

Roll the dough thin, about 1/8 inch. Use a cup or round cutter to form circles. Keep the dough covered so it doesn’t dry out as you work.

Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold in half and pinch the edges tightly. A good seal prevents the filling from leaking while boiling.

Drop pierogi into salted boiling water. When they float, cook for 1–2 more minutes. Drain carefully, they're soft and delicate when hot.

For extra richness, pan-fry boiled pierogi in butter until lightly golden. Add caramelized onions on top for a traditional and deeply satisfying touch.

Top your pierogi with sour cream, chives, or more fried onions. They're perfect as a comforting meal or party appetizer that everyone loves.

Making pierogi is more than cooking. It’s tradition, family, and comfort in one bite. Once you try it, this dumpling will forever have a place in your heart and home.
